RSPB Breaks  Snowdonia, Seabirds and Ospreys

The breathtaking scenery of Snowdonia and the isle of Anglesey are home to a range of amazing wildlife including buzzards, butterflies and the beautiful osprey.

We begin today with a memorable ‘Date with Nature’: a chance to see the Glaslyn Ospreys.

From here we join the famous Ffestiniog Railway and chug through spectacular Snowdonia towards Blaenau Ffestiniog.

We journey first to Anglesey and RSPB South Stack link opens in a new window, a wonderful cliff top reserve with wild flowers, butterflies and birds including a bustling seabird colony. We then go to RSPB Conwy link opens in a new window , a wetland full of wildlife in the magnificent Snowdonia landscape.

RSPB South Stack – some trails suitable for wheelchairs.
RSPB Conwy – Good.

Today we journey through the rugged and dramatic landscape of Snowdonia to RSPB Lake Vyrnwy link opens in a new window, lying at the foothills of the Berwyn Mountains. Wildlife to look out for includes migratory birds in spring, fledglings in summer and buzzards soaring overhead.

Good, with easy access to hides and trails.

On the way home we visit the wonderful historic city of Chester.

Chester is a lovely place steeped in history, with medieval buildings and Roman remains, and a lovely setting on the River Dee.
