Combining exploration and relaxation, we head to the ever-popular Costa Brava located in the beautiful north-east corner of Spain; the perfect setting for an enjoyable break. As well as a selection of excursions to some of the most interesting and historical towns and resorts strung along this lovely coast, there will also be plenty of time to unwind and take things at a slower pace.
Our journey to SpainWe travel to Dover to catch the early evening ferry to Calais. From here we travel through the night. On arrival at our resort on day two, we check in to our four-star hotel.
Day Three - Playa d’Aro & Tossa de MarFamed for its golden beaches, we begin the day with a visit to Playa d’Aro, which originated as a small fishing village and is linked to nearby Castell d’Aro, an ancient village built around a medieval castle. From here we go to Tossa de Mar, a bustling seaside resort that has lost none of its original charm and character. Along with its three main sweeping sandy beaches, there are lots of lovely little shops to browse in and a medieval castle to explore.Day Four - Optional Barcelona including a guided city tour (£10pp)Today brings the opportunity to spend the day in the Catalan capital of Barcelona on our optional excursion. Full of life and character, Barcelona is an amazing city and home to unique architecture, picturesque scenery and wonderful food. Some of its most famous sights include Gaudi’s unfinished cathedral, the jaw-dropping Sagrada Familia, the lively streets of the Ramblas and the modern Olympic district; all of which will be visited on our guided tour of the city.
Day at leisure & GironaAfter spending a relaxing day in our resort, the next day we head to Girona, a charming yet impressive Catalan city located halfway between the sea and the mountains. There’ll be plenty to see during our day out here, from exploring the grandiose and Gothic cathedral to the Plaça de la Independència, one of the best known and most visited areas of Girona.
Pineda MarketFor our half day excursion, we visit Pineda Market to take in some local colour, while giving us plenty of opportunity to stock up on souvenirs and local delicacies.
Our journey homeWe leave our resort in the late afternoon on day eight to begin the journey home, travelling overnight through France. We reach Calais the following morning to catch the mid-morning ferry home.
