The Royal Mint Experience & Mumbles (full day)
We start the day with a visit to the Royal Mint Experience on the outskirts of Cardiff, an interactive exhibition about how coin production works. We watch as workers mint coins and discover fascinating facts about the coins in our pockets, giving us a wonderful insight into one of the UK’s oldest institutions.
We then visit Mumbles, a charming fishing village known as the gateway to the Gower Peninsula. Wander quaint streets lined with colourful cottages or enjoy the sweeping views across Swansea Bay. There are also boutique stores, quirky galleries and cafés plus a lighthouse and Victorian pier to explore.
Aberglasney Gardens & National Botanic Garden of Wales (full day)
We head first to Aberglasney Gardens, one of the finest gardens in Wales set in the beautiful Tywi Valley. Here we can explore the ancient formal gardens with their pools, parapets, cloisters and arches, and discover the rare and unusual plants.
We continue on to the National Botanic Garden of Wales, home to an amazing collection of over 8,000 different plant varieties, spread across 560 acres of beautiful countryside. Set in historic parkland dating back some 400 years, the garden boasts a range of themed gardens as well as a nature reserve. Highlights include the Great Glasshouse and the Double Walled Garden.
Tredegar House & Cardiff (full day)
We make our way to Tredegar House, a late 17th-century restoration house owned by the National Trust, surrounded by 90 acres of beautiful gardens and parkland. For more than 500 years it was home to one of the greatest Welsh families, the flamboyant Morgans, and their fascinating story is told throughout the house.
We return to the hotel via the vibrant Welsh capital of Cardiff, with its beautiful Victorian shopping centres and quirky market. Cardiff Castle is right in the heart of the city and offers a truly remarkable site with a history that spans over 2,000 years (entrance not included).
