Newquay, Eden Project & Poldark's Cornwall

From the clouds rolling across the panoramic wilderness of Bodmin Moor to the rugged cliffs marking the arrival of the Atlantic Ocean, Cornwall is a region of varied landscapes; the perfect backdrop for the BBC’s popular TV series, Poldark. Golden sands meet bustling seaside towns along a dramatic coastline that evokes the memory of childhood holidays.

Pentire Hotel

We’ll stay in the well-appointed Pentire Hotel, located high on the headland close to famous Fistral Beach and central Newquay. The sea views are fantastic and leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool and steam room.

The Eden Project (full day)

Built into the Cornish countryside, the Eden Project is often described as the Eighth Wonder of the World. With thousands of species of plants to see both indoors and out and a wealth of activities taking place every day, there is always something new to set our eyes on. The aerial walkway affords lovely views over the Rainforest Biome, the largest rainforest in captivity.

Padstow & Charlestown (full day)

We visit the charming port resort of Padstow. Famous for its connection to chef Rick Stein (whose restaurant is based locally), the town is renowned for its harbour from where you can enjoy some stunning views.

We continue on to Charlestown, an amazing unspoiled example of a late Georgian working port, constructed in response to the growth of the local mining industry. Other businesses were established including pilchard curing and ship building, with many attractive period properties built up in the village. Charlestown is a popular filming location with credits including the BBC’s hugely successful Poldark TV series and there are often square rigger ships in the harbour.

Optional Excursion

Penzance & St Ives – £11pp (full day)

On our optional excursion we head first to Penzance, nestled in a sheltered position in beautiful Mounts Bay. The town boasts an attractive seafront promenade and sub-tropical gardens.

Next is the Cornish holiday town of St Ives. Stroll along one of the sandy beaches, watch the fishermen launch their boats from the harbour, wander through the maze of cobbled streets admiring the pretty cottages or take in the artwork on display at the Cornwall branch of the Tate Gallery.
