Imperial Hotel

We’ll stay at the Imperial Hotel in Eastbourne, a Victorian hotel situated at the seaward end of a tree-lined boulevard. The hotel is less than a 15-minute walk from the town centre and less than a hundred yards from the seafront, across the road from the promenade and bandstand.

Lewes & Alfriston (half day)

We head first to the bustling market town of Lewes, surrounded by chalk cliffs in the South Downs. There are many historic buildings to admire including the Norman castle which dominates the townscape.

We continue on to the picturesque village of Alfriston. Nestled in the valley of the River Cuckmere, it is full of charming old buildings, gift shops, tearooms and traditional inns.

Optional Excursion

Hastings & Battle – £7pp (half day)

On our optional half day excursion we head first to Hastings, a coastal town which boasts the remains of the first castle in England to be built by William the Conqueror and a lovely preserved Old Town with half-timbered houses and narrow streets. We then continue to Battle, the scene of William the Conqueror’s famous victory.
