Itinerary

We spend time in beautiful Canterbury, with its quaint cobbled lanes, timber-framed buildings and medieval city walls. Relaxed and inviting, the city feels more like a town and is also the home to the oldest cathedral in England, dating back to Norman times.

On our optional excursion, we travel to the charming seaside towns of Broadstairs and Whitstable. Broadstairs is not only home to award-winning beaches but also plenty of quaint shops and eateries burrowed away in its narrow passageways while Whitstable boasts a small working harbour flanked by shingle beaches, pastel-coloured beach huts, weatherboard houses plus independent shops and galleries.

Accommodation

The Grand Burstin Hotel is best known for its location, right next to Folkestone’s harbour and seafront. Simple yet comfortable throughout, all rooms have en-suite facilities and there is also a leisure club with a heated pool, gym and sauna (small charge applies). All meals are buffet style.

Hotel Rating

Hotels with a JG2 rating are a mixture of larger hotels and privately owned properties. Décor and furnishings may be simple but are clean and well maintained. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, TV and may have tea/coffee making facilities. Food may be buffet style in some of the larger hotels. Services may be limited but efficient.
