The Tower of London Remembers: VE Day 80 & Poppies

2 days day day
from £149££pp

2025 Oct Nov

Join us at the iconic Tower of London for a spectacular commemorative display where nearly 30,000 ceramic poppies engulf the Tower grounds in a flood of red to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day. With many of the poppies returning from the original 2014 installation, this new display serves as a visual representation of the sacrifice made by so many, but also as a symbol of strength and resilience against overwhelming odds. With entrance to the Tower of London included as well as free time in the city to explore as you please, don't miss this historic occasion at the heart of the nation's capital.

Itinerary

From a morning pick-up in your local area, we travel by coach to our hotel in London. The rest of the day is free to spend at leisure in the city. From plenty of shopping opportunities on Oxford Street and in Covent Garden to discovering the city’s iconic sights, there’s lots to do. A trip to central London is easy, with our hotel conveniently located a 5-minute walk away from Canary Wharf underground.

After breakfast, we check out of the hotel and make our way back into central London for the spectacular poppy display at the iconic Tower of London. Our visit also includes admission into the ancient fortress itself, so there’s plenty to see here. We then enjoy free time until the afternoon, when we rejoin the coach and head for home.

Accommodation

The conveniently located ibis London Stratford Hotel offers comfortable accommodation and a warm welcome. The hotel includes a bar and a restaurant while the en-suite rooms feature flat-screen TV, hairdryer, free Wi-Fi and tea and coffee-making facilities. Meals are buffet style.

Hotel Rating

Hotels with a JG3 rating tend to be a more formal style of hotel, often part of a hotel chain, or are very-welcoming family-owned properties. Generally, they offer a greater range of facilities and services, and bedrooms tend to be a little more spacious with additional features. Public areas are larger and include lounge seating, bar and restaurant with good quality food served either buffet style or waiter service.

Ideally located for our break, the Moxy Hotel offers stylish bedrooms with tea and coffee-making facilities and flat-screen TV, as well as city views, a lounge and snack bar plus a coffee house.

Hotel Rating

Accommodation in our JG4 category is of an even higher standard, typically offering a wide range of facilities and services. Bedrooms are designed to make your stay the most comfortable possible and the staff provide a service that reflects the detail and quality. You can also expect higher standards of food and beverages.

Helpful Information

All of our London breaks include free time at leisure and we use a central coach drop-off point for our London tours, so these breaks may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. You will be required to make your own way to the theatre and/or attraction.
