This fantastic break combines three of Europe’s finest capitals – Prague, Vienna and Budapest. These beautiful cities boast fascinating histories and cultures, each having its own distinct personality which we explore on our guided tours. Laced with Gothic architecture, Prague’s impressive castle contrasts with the bustling cafés and cobbled lanes it overlooks. Vienna is a stately city of grand Baroque architecture and a rich musical and artistic heritage while two halves of a city, Buda and Pest, have combined to make one wonderful capital, with the waters of the Danube flowing between them.

Itinerary

Ferry to Calais and overnight stay in the Cologne area on a bed and breakfast basis.

We make our way to our hotel in the Nuremberg area for our overnight stay, with an en-route stop in the picturesque town of Rüdesheim am Rhein. Wander the charming streets and enjoy some lunch at your leisure before travelling down the Rhine Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site of beautiful landscapes, vineyards and breathtaking views of the river winding through the hills.

We continue on to the Duo Hotel in the Czech Republic’s capital of Prague, our base for the next two nights. Along the way, we stop in Plzeň for lunch at your leisure, the birthplace of Pilsner beer. Wander through the Old Town of pastel-coloured townhouses and grand squares and if there's time, be sure to take a look at St. Bartholomew’s Gothic Cathedral.

We explore Prague this morning, one of Europe’s most impressive capitals, thanks to its grand squares, imposing Charles Bridge, Old Town, charming Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Square and Prague Castle, perched high above the city and reckoned to be the largest ancient castle in the world. The castle is a magnificent complex that has served as the seat of power for Czech kings, emperors and presidents. We enjoy entrance to the castle, its interior rich in art and historic artefacts.

We depart Prague and head to the Leonardo Hotel in Budapest, where we stay for two nights. On the way, we visit Brno, Czechia's 'second city.' With beautiful Art Nouveau villas, quirky sculptures and St. James Square full of trendy bistros, it's an ideal stop for some lunch at your leisure.

Beautiful Budapest awaits today. This beautiful and dynamic city is made up of two parts, Buda and Pest, perched opposite each other with the majestic River Danube flowing between. We enjoy a guided tour of the Hungarian capital, seeing all the famous landmarks including Castle Hill, St Stephen’s Basilica and the grandiose Parliament building before taking some time at leisure to explore the city.

Leaving Hungary, we travel to Vienna and check in to the Trend Hotel Ananas, our base for the next two nights. The afternoon is left free for you to relax after the journey or explore the sights of the Austrian capital.

We discover the historical city of Vienna with a guided tour. Straddling the banks of the Danube, Vienna is an undisputed centre of art and culture in Europe and is famous for its grand buildings and squares, museums, opera houses and theatres, with principal sights including Hofburg Palace and the Museum Quarter. After our tour, we have time to enjoy the city at our own pace. Tonight, we enjoy a farewell dinner at a Viennese Heuriger (wine tavern) with wine and live music included.

Travel to our overnight hotel in Frankfurt, where a light evening meal is included tonight.

Continue to Calais for our return ferry home.
