Hotel Rating

Hotels with a JG3 rating tend to be a more formal style of hotel, often part of a hotel chain, with a greater range of facilities and services. Bedrooms are a little more spacious and have additional features. Public areas are larger and include lounge seating, a bar and restaurant with good quality food served either buffet style or with waiter service.

Portsmouth (half day)
We spend half a day in the bustling city of Portsmouth, Britain’s only island city thanks to its geographical location on Portsea Island. Its historic dockyard is home to Lord Nelson’s HMS Victory while Gunwharf Quays is a rejuvenated area of retail outlets, bars and restaurants. Here you can climb the Spinnaker Tower for panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Chichester (half day)
We visit the cathedral city of Chichester on our second half day excursion. This charming, compact city boasts some of the country’s oldest buildings and streets, including the cathedral church of the Holy Trinity, while the pedestrianised city centre is enclosed within the ancient city walls.

Optional Excursion
Winchester - £8pp (half day)
Our optional half day excursion takes us to the cathedral city of Winchester, situated on the edge of the South Downs National Park. The city’s market is in full swing, offering a wide variety of goods from quality local produce to fashion and bric-a-brac. The cathedral is also worth a visit with its beautiful illuminated Winchester Bible, 12th-century wall paintings and medieval carvings.
