Itinerary

From a morning pickup in your local area, we travel by coach to our hotel.

We visit the handsome university city of Durham, where we find an abundance of impressive historical buildings and sights set amongst the cobbled streets and picturesque riverbanks. These include the unique 11th-century castle, the university’s Botanic Garden and the highlight of the city’s skyline, the magnificent Norman cathedral.

Half Day

Today we spend a full day at the award-winning Beamish, the world-famous living museum that brings the North of England’s past vividly to life. Spread across 350 beautiful acres, Beamish tells the story of everyday people through the ages – from life on the 1940s farm to the bustling Pit Village and colliery of the early 1900s. Ride an old-fashioned tram through The Town, meet costumed characters going about their daily routines and experience the sights, sounds and even smells of a bygone era. It’s an unforgettable journey through history.

Full Day

We spend the day exploring the charming coastal town of Whitby, famed for its connection to Bram Stoker’s Dracula and for its striking jet jewellery. We journey through the Moors and then have the chance to wander around the busy harbour before tackling the climb up to the atmospheric ruined abbey perched on the cliffs. Whitby was also once the home of the famous explorer Captain Cook, who lived here as an apprentice. Afterwards, we take a scenic drive along the coast back to the hotel, via Boulby and Marske.

Full Day

After breakfast, we check out of the hotel and board the coach for the journey home.
