Itinerary

We take a journey back in time to the ancient and picturesque fishing village of Clovelly, where we can venture up and down the cobbled streets, taking in the views across Bideford Bay, or have a beverage at the famous 18th-century Red Lion Inn. Clinging to a 400-foot cliff, Clovelly is famous for being completely vehicle-less, with local supplies being delivered by donkey, sledge or on foot.

Afterwards, we return to the harbour town of Bideford, where we enjoy free time to discover this town’s delightful sights. It’s the perfect place for a spot of retail therapy and a relaxing time outdoors.

We head to Bude, a charming seaside resort on Cornwall’s dramatic north coast. Famed for its golden beaches, rugged cliffs and laid-back atmosphere, the town boasts two main beaches, Summerleaze and Crooklets. For those interested in history, Bude Castle, built by the Victorian inventor Sir Goldsworthy Gurney, offers fascinating insights into the local heritage.

Join our optional excursion to the historic town of Barnstaple, one of the UK’s oldest boroughs, known for its rich heritage and vibrant Pannier Market, one of Britain’s largest indoor markets. Since Saxon times, Barnstaple has been a bustling hub for the surrounding countryside. Browse stalls offering everything from local produce and flowers to handmade crafts, art and fashion – a truly unique shopping experience.

In the afternoon, we continue to the picturesque seaside town of Ilfracombe. Nestled between dramatic cliffs and rolling hills, Ilfracombe boasts a charming harbour and Victorian architecture.

Generally, they offer a greater range of facilities and services, and bedrooms tend to be a little more spacious with additional features. Public areas are larger and include lounge seating, bar and restaurant with good quality food served either buffet style or waiter service.
