Itinerary

From a morning pickup in your local area, we travel by coach to Blackpool, a seaside town brimming with charm, heritage and attractions. We have time at leisure for some shopping or sightseeing before checking into our hotel in the late afternoon.

After breakfast, we travel by coach to the charming seaside town of Lytham for its much-loved annual 1940s Wartime Weekend. Set against the picturesque backdrop of Lytham Green, with its iconic windmill and coastal views, the town bursts into life with nostalgia. Expect a blend of historical re-enactments, vintage military vehicles and classic cars lining the streets. Live big band music drifts through the air as dancers in period dress take to the floor, while singers perform stirring wartime favourites. Browse bustling vintage stalls, enjoy themed refreshments and catch a rousing ‘Churchill’ speech that captures the morale of the era.

After breakfast, we check out of our hotel and spend some more free time in Blackpool, before heading home in the afternoon.

Accommodation

We stay at a selected hotel in Blackpool, such as the Savoy or the Grand Hotel. All rooms are en-suite with TVs, tea and coffee-making facilities and free Wi-Fi.

Your hotel will be confirmed approximately 3 weeks before departure, therefore we cannot guarantee that the hotel will have a lift and/or ground floor rooms and may be unsuitable for those with limited mobility.

Hotel Rating

Hotels with a JG2 rating are a mixture of larger hotels and privately owned properties. Décor and furnishings may be simple but are clean and well maintained. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, TV and may have tea/coffee making facilities. Food may be buffet style in some of the larger hotels. Services may be limited but efficient.

Hotels with a JG3 rating tend to be a more formal style of hotel, often part of a hotel chain, or are very-welcoming family-owned properties. Generally, they offer a greater range of facilities and services, and bedrooms tend to be a little more spacious with additional features. Public areas are larger and include lounge seating, bar and restaurant with good quality food served either buffet style or waiter service.
