Itinerary

Ferry to Calais and overnight stay in France.

We cross the border into Switzerland and make our way through the stunning scenery of the Swiss Alps, before crossing into Italy to reach our hotel in Lake Garda in time for dinner.

We drive to Trento to visit the Christmas Market. A magical destination during this festive season, the market features beautifully decorated stalls selling a variety of traditional crafts, handmade ornaments and local delicacies. Wander through the lively market and soak in the festive atmosphere, with the scent of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts filling the air and plenty of choice for lunch at leisure.

This evening, we enjoy a special Christmas Eve dinner served by candlelight at the hotel.

On Christmas Day, we take a morning at leisure to go for a lakeside stroll, before tucking into a traditional turkey lunch at our hotel. Later, we take a scenic boat cruise on the northern part of Lake Garda to admire the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and charming lakeside villages.

This evening, we enjoy a light evening meal at the hotel.

Today we head to the distinctive city of Verona, famous for being the setting of the ultimate romantic tragedy, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The city has a rich history and artistic culture and many renowned Renaissance artists made this fair city their home. Our guided walking tour takes us to Verona's historic landmarks, such as the Arena di Verona and Juliet's House. Following our tour, we enjoy free time to explore the city of love, wander its medieval streets and stop for flavourful refreshments in one of its many cafés. Take a stroll down the Via Mazzini, the elegant Venetian marble-paved street that leads to the heart of the town, Piazza Erbe, Verona’s popular and attractive square.

We embark upon a scenic drive along the eastern shore of Lake Garda and enjoy guided commentary that highlights the rich history, culture and natural beauty of the area. We stop at the picturesque town of Malcesine, known for its medieval castle and cobbled streets, along with Garda, a town of stunning lake vistas and Bardolino, famous for its delightful wine and olive oil.

Travel to our overnight hotel in France, with a light evening meal included.

Continue on to Calais for our return ferry home.
