Itinerary

Discover some of Yorkshire's most picturesque destinations on this scenic excursion through the North York Moors. We spend time in the market town of Pickering, renowned for its historic character and gateway location to the national park, before continuing to the charming village of Goathland. Surrounded by beautiful moorland scenery, the village is famous as the setting for the TV series Heartbeat and for its appearance in the Harry Potter films. We then visit the historic coastal town of Whitby, where there is time to explore the bustling harbour, browse the independent shops and soak up the atmosphere of one of Yorkshire's most distinctive seaside destinations.

Steeped in history, York is one of England's most fascinating cities. Enjoy free time to explore its medieval streets, wander through the famous Shambles with its quirky timber-framed buildings, or take a walk along the ancient city walls. At the heart of the city stands the magnificent York Minster, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, while the city's cafés, shops and attractions offer plenty to discover at your own pace.

A Scarborough landmark, the Grand Hotel is an impressive Victorian building overlooking the harbour and South Bay. En-suite rooms are simple and comfortable with tea and coffee-making facilities and TV. Meals are buffet style.

Hotels with a JG2 rating are a mixture of larger hotels and privately owned properties. Décor and furnishings may be simple but are clean and well maintained. All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, TV and may have tea/coffee making facilities. Food may be buffet style in some of the larger hotels. Services may be limited but efficient.
