Itinerary

From a morning pickup in your local area, we travel by coach to our hotel.

We enjoy a nostalgic day travelling through the spectacular North York Moors on the heritage North Yorkshire Moors Railway, one of Britain’s most scenic steam railways. Sit back and enjoy the journey from Pickering to Whitby, soaking up views of rolling moorland and wooded valleys.

Upon arrival, we spend some free time in the charming coastal town of Whitby, famed for its connection to Bram Stoker’s Dracula and for its striking jet jewellery. Wander around the busy harbour before tackling the climb up to the atmospheric ruined abbey perched on the cliffs. Whitby was also once the home of the famous explorer Captain Cook, who lived here as an apprentice and is now immortalised as a local hero with a museum dedicated to his life and accomplishments and an impressive statue that looks out to sea.

Later, we return to the hotel by coach.

Full Day

Our optional excursion takes us to the seaside! We start our day with a visit to the delightful town of Beverley, known for its historic architecture and vibrant cultural scene. Beverley is home to the stunning Beverley Minster, one of the largest parish churches in England, showcasing magnificent Gothic design. Next stop is the quaint resort of Filey, full of olde-worlde charm and boasting a five-mile stretch of sandy beach as well as some of the most spectacular sea views on the Yorkshire coast.

Full Day

Today we head to the historic city of York. Make time for the glorious York Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe with world-famous stained-glass windows. Other highlights include the narrow, cobbled streets of the ‘Shambles’ where the buildings date back to medieval times, the Jorvik Centre, which tells the story of York’s Viking heritage, and the ancient walls surrounding the city. The famous Betty’s tea rooms are also worth a visit.

Full Day

After breakfast, we check out of the hotel and board the coach for the journey home.
