André Rieu - Live in Maastricht

After a hugely successful series of Christmas concerts in 2019, the King of Waltz and his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra will return to his hometown of Maastricht in 2022 for a magical and fun-filled afternoon. With his world-famous repertoire of romantic waltzes and moving ballads, André Rieu dazzles audiences with a witty showmanship like no other.

In one of his most lavish settings to date, an enchanting Winter Wonderland is recreated with snow, two ice rinks, sparkling lights, 150 stunning chandeliers and over 50 Venetian candelabras, as well as a charming Christmas Market offering tasty treats! Soak up the festive atmosphere and sing along to famous Christmas songs and carols such as Holy Night, Sleigh Ride and Jingle Bells during this truly memorable concert. We combine this ultimate homecoming with a visit to the enchanting Antwerp Christmas Market – the perfect way to get into the festive spirit.

Accommodation

We’ll stay at a selected 3 or 4-star hotel in Belgium, Germany or the Netherlands. All rooms are en suite and facilities include a bar and restaurant.

Day 1 – Journey to Belgium/Germany/the Netherlands

We catch the ferry to Calais and travel on to check in at our hotel, where we stay on a bed and breakfast basis. We have time to choose a local restaurant for dinner.

Day 2 – Antwerp Christmas Market

Today we travel to Antwerp Christmas Market, known as one of the biggest and best Belgian Christmas markets. While spread over the historic city centre, everything is within easy walking distance from the town square of Grote Markt, where waterfalls of cascading festive lights glitter down the elaborate 16th-century guildhalls, creating a stunning Winter Wonderland. Wander the curious cobbled lanes, with a glass of festive cheer or warming hot chocolate in hand. Or the tasty Belgian waffles are the perfect treat while we meander through a sea of stalls selling handicrafts, original trinkets and other curios. We have time to choose a local restaurant for dinner before returning to our hotel.

Day 3 – Maastricht & André Rieu concert

We set off for Maastricht, where we enjoy some time at leisure. Maastricht is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands, full of churches, city walls, merchant houses and big squares. There are also plenty of shops, from chic boutiques to larger shopping malls.

This afternoon will be the highlight of our break when we head to the MECC Maastricht for the spectacular André Rieu concert. The violin maestro will perform his most celebrated waltzes, along with other spellbinding classical music, Christmas carols plus a surprise or two. Sing and dance along in what promises to be a musical extravaganza to remember; made even more special in the setting of André’s hometown. After the show we rejoin the coach and return to the hotel for our last night’s stay.

Day 4 – Journey home

After breakfast we check out of our hotel and head back to Calais for our return ferry home.
