Itinerary

We spend some time at the pretty shopping destination of Blakemere Village, set in the heart of Cheshire. It features a unique collection of independent boutiques gathered around a quaint courtyard, a popular craft workshop and plenty of tempting food and drink outlets.

In Anderton, we step aboard the Edwin Clark, named after the engineer who designed and constructed the impressive Anderton Boat Lift, and enjoy a river cruise.

We head to picturesque Llangollen, located on the banks of the River Dee and surrounded by rolling Welsh hills. First we climb aboard one of the vintage carriages at the town’s heritage Steam Railway, operated by volunteers, and watch the ever-changing scenery unfold on a spectacular journey through the Dee Valley. This afternoon we rejoin the coach for our journey home.

Please note: The Llangollen Steam Railway may not always be steam-powered; it could be diesel or electric.

Accommodation

The Beaufort Hotel in Mold is a comfortable hotel with individually designed rooms. All rooms are en-suite, with tea and coffee-making facilities, TV, phone, and hairdryer. The hotel features a restaurant, bar/lounge, and free Wi-Fi.

Hotel Rating

Hotels with a JG3 rating tend to be a more formal style of hotel, often part of a hotel chain, or are very-welcoming family-owned properties. Generally, they offer a greater range of facilities and services, and bedrooms tend to be a little more spacious with additional features. Public areas are larger and include lounge seating, bar and restaurant with good quality food served either buffet style or waiter service.
