Visit Lake Garda & Verona By Coach
Days 1 & 2 – Journey to Italy
We travel to Dover to catch the evening ferry to Calais. From here, we continue our journey through the night, arriving at our hotel in the Lake Garda area on the afternoon of day two.
Day 3 – Riva del Garda & Malcesine
We enjoy a scenic tour of Lake Garda, stopping en-route in two of the beautiful towns along its shores. Riva del Garda is located at the more dramatic northern end of the lake with mountains on either side and boasts winding streets, beautiful coloured buildings, old town gateways and waterfront squares. We continue to Malcesine, an attractive town on the eastern shore with a quaint harbour and imposing castle. Picturesque medieval lanes wind up the slope from the lake while pretty squares are lined with shops, cafés and restaurants.
Day 4 – Optional excursion to Venice (£42pp)
Join us for an optional excursion to explore the unique city of Venice, famed for its network of canals. Just some of the wonderful attractions here include St Mark’s Square, the Rialto Bridge and of course the gondolas that meander up and down the waterways. Whether you are visiting for the first time of returning to this magical city, there is always something new to discover amongst the many waterfront palazzos, historic palaces and iconic landmarks.
Day 5 – Optional excursion to Sirmione (£10pp)
Our optional half day excursion takes us to Sirmione. Set on a picturesque peninsula on the southern shore of Lake Garda, Sirmione is a beautifully-preserved town with an imposing turreted 13th-century castle and maze of narrow, cobbled streets full of shops and cafés, offering the perfect place to enjoy an authentic gelato.
Day 6 – Soave & Verona
We head first to Soave, a fairy-tale town enclosed by its medieval walls and dominated by its ancient castle. As well as being one of the best preserved medieval villages in Italy, this small town is also famous for the wines that come from the surrounding vineyards. Next is Verona, one of Italy’s oldest cities. Forever associated with Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, Verona has much more to offer than the legendary balcony that lovers flock to from all over the world. Other must-see sights include the majestic Piazza Brà, lined with picturesque buildings and numerous cafés and restaurants, and the Verona Arena, a beautiful Roman amphitheatre.
Days 7 & 8 – Journey home
We leave our hotel in the afternoon, travelling overnight towards Calais. The following morning, we catch the return ferry home.
